Crop the bottom 10% and you've got a good picture.

Stick to a theme - portraits, nudes, still lifes, landscapes - and paint a series. You'll become more consistent. At the moment you seem a bit hit and miss: one very good painting is followed by a mediocre one.

Sorry, to be critical, but that last painting of your wife sitting in an armchair was superb. You should not drop below that standard.

Be more disciplined in your approach.

Thanks for your comment, you're definitely allowed to be critical.

You see, the nice thing of being an amateur is that I don't have to stick to a theme. I'm still trying different approaches and subjects with my art. I guess it takes hundreds of paintings before I find my "style", and even then I hope I'll keep evolving and not get stuck in doing the same over and over again. I made a quick count: I've done about 45 oil paintings in my life so far. With that in mind, I'm happy that someone considers a few of them "very good" :)

Only 45? Then what you have achieved so far is remarkable. Some of them are outstanding. I think you have great talent.

Arto! (If I may be critcal then also)
You have, and are touching on heavenly things.
To see your art is to feel the peace of God.
100% of your canvas entertains 100% of my interest!
Thanks for painting!
